Every time I think I’ve nailed this gender journey ‘o mine, another facet pops up to say me nay. I’m not even talking about profound moments or incidents; today’s mundane insight was prompted by my email inboxes. Being as I’ve been uncertain just who and what I am for so long, it’s likely non-surprising that I have multiple email accounts. Six with Google alone. Others with my various domain names. Unlike my “others,” they’re not different parts of me, they’re just different directions I took at some point in time, all of which have gotten way out of hand and none of which I can figure out how to discard. Ergo, my various inboxes are always full and my particular neurodivergence responds to said abundance according to whatever flavor it’s sporting at the given moment. But I recently discovered that I sort mail better when I center as male than when I try to get through the day as female. Which is backwards, isn’t it? As girl, I automatically multi-task; as guy, I checklist. You/I would think seeing the possibilities array in just about anything would be more gooder, right? More perspectives, more insights, more opportunities for learning and growth.
